Music Explorers Nicola Stables, Double bass

Nicola and Naomi are both members of Manchester Camerata and have visited many schools as part of their role in this orchestra’s education service and with several other outreach projects.
Nicola joined a new chamber orchestra as double bass player in Lisbon after her university courses before returning to the North of England. She is also a member of the Viva Sinfonia, Birmingham Touring Opera and freelances with orchestras throughout the region. She performed at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds in the musical accompaniment to ‘The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe’ and also for a production of ‘The Phantom of the Opera’.
Naomi studied at the RNCM and has been a winner of the brass final of the BBC’s Young Musician of the Year competition. As principal horn player of Manchester Camerata, she frequently appears as a soloist and coaches instrumentalists on chamber courses. She is currently very involved with major creative education events including projects staged at The Bridgewater Hall and the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester. Recently she has joined the extended Lindsay Quartet. |

Concert programme
In between each piece we play we will talk about various aspects of performance, our instruments and how they work, how music can alter how you feel etc. and will include a question and answer session at the end. |
