These concerts are aimed specifically at children – and their parents – and will give them a chance to see and hear what is involved in our evening concerts in a more relaxed and hands-on environment.

We have deliberately selected artists who do a lot of work with young people and who will involve, challenge and entertain.

Times and venues for these concerts vary – see below for details. Most are in Sowerby Parochial Hall, up the lane to the left about 20 yards before St Oswalds Church (approaching from Thirsk).

Admission is FREE for children (16 and under) and £3 for accompanying adults. There are no advanced sales – just turn up on the day!

We will issue vouchers to adults attending enabling them to be redeemed against the cost of the evening concert on the same day – children can attend these free as well.

Metropolitan Brass Quintet

Saturday 12th May, 3pm, Sowerby Parochial Hall

The members of the Metropolitan Brass Ensemble have all led education workshops for such companies as Live Music Now, Hallé Education, Manchester Camerata, Create, Northern Chamber Orchestra, Yamaha and The Education Group. The members of the group have also taken part in the award winning Hallé Brass Young Offenders Scheme and delivered master classes at such institutions as Salford and York Universities.

We believe that music can both inspire and enrich young lives. The experience of seeing live musicians cannot be underestimated and is an opportunity afforded to fewer and fewer children in the current climate.
